The Spanish Governement approved last December 28th, 2021 the National Budget for 2022. 

Despite de news announcing a significant increase in the tax burden for inividuals in 2022, there are few measures introduced by the National Budget.

In addition to some meassures in respect of the Objetive Estimation Method for Profesional Activities, the most relevant change introduced by the National Budget is related with Pension Plans contributions.

In 2022, the benefit arising from Pension Plan contributions is reduced from 2000 euros to 1500 euros (for the case of particular contributions), In the case of pension plan contributions made by the employers, the current limit of 8.000 euros is increased up to 8.500 euros per year.  

In summary, the annual joint limit reduction (individual’s plus employer’s contribution) is still fixed in 10.000 euros. 

On a separate hand, there are changes in the Social Security contribution base, that has been established for 2022 in 4.139, 40 euros per month. The contribution rates for both employers and employees will remain the same

No more changes in the National Budget that will impact the taxation of individuals.
